JBS’S ENVIRONMENTAL DEPARTMENT REPORTS ITS PROGRESS TO THE MATO GROSSO STATE ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT
The goal of the technical meeting was to present investments and improvements at units across the State
and discuss opportunities for improvement and challenges
The JBS Beef Brazil Environment area, the Legal department and business unit supervisors in Mato Grosso met with representatives from the State Environment Department (SEMA-MT) in Cuiabá (MT). The meeting was an opportunity to report on the area’s progress at units across the State. The Company also reported on its investments across the region during the past several years. “This shows our commitment to complying with legal requirements and going beyond them in our environmental and sustainability initiatives”, sad Marcelo Dresch, JBS Beef Brazil Environment manager.
Maria Cristina Ramos, the SEMA licensing director, said the meeting was positive and an opportunity for the state government to assess the situation at each JBS unit in the State. “Furthermore, this was the first time a company approached us to present the work it is doing and the challenges it faces”, she said.
Concluding the meeting, she also discussed the various aspects of the state licensing process and issues companies should be especially aware of when expanding and/or modernizing any production processes at Mato Grosso units.
