JBS INVESTS R$ 300 MILLION IN TEAM MEMBERS HEALTH AND SAFETY
In 2018, JBS invested over R$ 300 million in team members Health and Safety globally. The investment was earmarked for structural improvements, including modernizing existing and purchasing new equipment to help prevent, reduce, mitigate or eliminate incidents.
The Company’s Health and Safety management approach complies with the health and safety regulations in each local market and includes skilled staff and emergency brigades to deal with any issues. In Brazil, staff are accountable for complying with the Health, Safety and Self-Management Program (PSSAG) and work with leaders to ensure compliance with the program’s regulations.
Teams also map project risks and draw up improvement plans, offering legal and behavioral training to ensure the health and safety of all Company tem members. While new hires receive their first training course, longer term staff are given refresher courses.
JBS monitors all main Health and Safety indicators daily, providing periodic performance analysis. This allows the corporate Health and Safety committees at each unit to prioritize the decision-making processes.
To celebrate World Occupational Health and Safety Day in April, JBS executives in Brazil held meetings with staff to reinforce each supervisor’s role in complying with internal (PSSAG) and external (NR – Brazilian Regulatory Standards) regulations.
These meetings discussed several different procedures in each supervisor’s area and highlighted the importance of the Daily Safety Dialogue (DDS), where each employee is expected to prioritize both their own safety and look after themselves and their colleagues.

• Create and promote a Health and Safety culture by leading by example, individually taking responsibility and monitoring health and safety as a team.
