JBS AWARDED PARANÁ CLIMATE SEAL 2018
This is the third consecutive year that the company has received the award for voluntarily reporting
emissions from its operations in the State
JBS has been awarded the Paraná Climate Seal for the third consecutive year. The Seal is awarded to companies that voluntarily report greenhouse gas emission figures to the State Secretariat for the Environment and Water Resources.
Companies awarded the Seal see it as evidence their efforts to manage emissions reflect sustainability commitments. Over 35 companies were involved in this year’s awards, which were held on November 7, in Curitiba, Paraná. Data on fuel used to generate power, electricity consumption, factory effluent analyses and fuel used for transportation were collected from units across the state.
Companies report voluntarily and this year the Seal celebrated a 40% increase in the number of reporting organizations.
“Our operations in Paraná play an important role overall, so it is increasingly important for us to engage with initiatives like this one, where we can underline our wholehearted commitment to the environment”, said Claudia Jardim, JBS’s Sustainability coordinator.
A number of unit initiatives have helped consolidate more sustainable practices. One example is from Rolândia, where the boilers now use 100% renewable fuel, reducing related greenhouse gas emissions by 30%.
