São Paulo, October 9, 2019 – The Nelore Quality Circuit stage held at the Friboi plant located in Goiânia (GO) assessed 723 males and 163 females out of a total of 886 animals from several local producers based in the state. The results were announced by the Brazilian Association of Nelore Breeders (ACNB) and Goiás Nelore Association (AGN), as the awards are set to be presented on October 9, during Expoinel Goiás, which is also being held in Goiânia. The event, sponsored by Matsuda Sementes e Nutrição Animal and the AGN, will also be a great opportunity for Circuit participants, exhibitors and other livestock breeders to meet.
“69.2% of males had up to 2 permanent incisive teeth (less than 2 years old) and an average weight of 22.9 arrobas, while 53.7% had medium and uniform carcass finishing. 72.6% of females had up to 2 permanent incisive teeth, weighing an average of 15.8 arrobas, with 73.6% of presenting medium and uniform carcass finishing”, said Gustavo Callejon, technical advisor at the ACNB and Circuit judge.
After the Nelore Circuit assessment, the Gold Medal for best male carcass lot went to Agropecuária Nelore Paranã. The Silver Medal went to Mário Pinto da Silva, while Vera Cruz Agropecuária took Bronze. Mário Pinto da Silva took Gold Medal for best female carcass lot. Luiz Mauro de Paula e Souza won the Silver Medal.
The gold medal winners received 500 kilos of Matsuda mineral supplements which will be delivered to their farms by the company’s technical experts.
Nelore Quality Circuit
The Nelore Quality Circuit, which is organized by the Brazilian Association of Nelore Breeders (ACNB), supports and promotes pure-bred meat and genetics to help increase productivity for Brazilian cattle farmers. The initiative gauges producers’ results based on their local environment and production system.
First held in 1999, this year’s circuit, which is sponsored by Matsuda Sementes e Nutrição Animal, has grown to include 27 stages across 10 states. By the end of 2019, the Circuit will assess a record 20 thousand carcasses.
