Sao Paulo, November 22nd 2019 – JBS received, for the fourth consecutive year, the Paraná Climate Seal, an initiative by the state government that acknowledges efforts from companies to provide, in a volunteer manner, information related to the total emission of greenhouse gases to the State Department of Sustainable Development and Tourism.
The 5th edition of this initiative had participation from 36 companies, and the awarding ceremony was held at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries from Paraná (FIEP). For reporting, data was collected from the state facilities concerning the use of fuel for generating energies at the plants, consumption of electric power, analysis of effluents generated by the factories, and consumption of fuels used for transportation.
“Environmental Management is one of the strategic topics worked by the Sustainability area from JBS. For this reason, the recognition with the Paraná Climate Seal stresses our commitment and engagement with the environment,” explains the Company’s Sustainability coordinator, Claudia Jardim. “Additionally, further reducing the greenhouse gas emissions not only in Paraná, but in Brazil, is among the Company’s priorities,” complements Claudia.
JBS has eight production plants in this state, in the cities of Campo Mourão, Carambeí, Jacarezinho, Jaguapitã, Lapa, Rolândia, Santa Fé and Santo Inácio, in addition to feed factories, matrices and its own farms.
