Sao Paulo, November 10, 2016 – Today, JBS inaugurated a new distribution center (DC) in the state of Sao Paulo in partnership with COMFRIO, the logistics operator. Based in the city of Bauru, the new structure will be responsible for distributing around 4.3 thousand tons of in natura beef and processed products a month throughout the region.
In order to improve logistics throughout the state, JBS has split the interior of Sao Paulo into two macro regions served by the Bauru and Barretos distribution centers, which will reduce product mix deliveries to retailers and wholesalers by up to a day. Customers purchasing large quantities of in natura meat will still be served directly by the meatpacking plants.
“This new distribution center is strategically located to serve around 200 cities and will improve the service and the product mix delivered to other three thousand customers in the interior of Sao Paulo, a major growth region for the company”, explained Gilmar Schumacher, Logistics director at JBS Carnes.
The Bauru DC is the third JBS distribution center in the State of Sao Paulo and its 12th in Brazil. With over 8000 m2 of construction, the company will occupy around 70% of its total capacity (3 thousand pallet positions). Around 300 direct and indirect jobs are likely to be created.
