JBS BIODIESEL TAKES ANOTHER STEP TOWARDS CBIOS EMISSION CERTIFICATION

Certification will allow the Company to issue a 30% more efficient CBio than previously forecast

Sao Paulo, July 01, 2019 – JBS Biodiesel took another step towards including the Lins (SP) and Campo Verde (MT) plants in the National Biofuel Policy (RenovaBio). Last Monday (24), a public consultation process was launched so the plants can be certified to issue Decarburization Credits (CBios – a financial instrument issued by certified biofuel producers).

Based on the standards implemented by the biofuel incentive act, the plants, which reuse animal fat and cooking oil, now have emissions profiles offering close to maximum efficiency. Certification will allow the Company to issue a 30% more efficient CBio than previously forecast by RenovaCalc (a tool the ANP developed to calculate emissions at each individual plant).

“JBS is constantly looking at ways of increasing environmental efficiency. Transforming production chain waste into biofuel is not just an appropriate waste disposal method, it also delivers a more sustainable, value-added product”, said Alexandre Pereira, director at JBS Biodiesel. “The Company is fully committed to obtaining this certificate because, apart from proving our renewable fuel production process is clean and efficient, it can also generate significant financial returns for the Company”, he added.

JBS expects to place approximately 550 thousand CBios on the market every year.
