Over 1500 animals were assessed at the event


São Paulo, November 4, 2019 – The Nelore Quality Circuit stage held in Naviraí, Mato Grosso do Sul, assessed 1,511 animals from 12 cattle breeders. According to the Brazilian Association of Nelore Breeders (ACNB) and its Mato Grosso do Sul branch (ASCN), the stage held at the local Friboi plant, sponsored by Friboi and Matsuda Semenes e Nutrição Animal, was the biggest yet.

“Once again, the Circuit assessed high-quality animals, including the standout winning lot with 108 castrated males: 96.3% of animals had deciduous teeth, 90.7% had medium fat finishing and an average weight of 20.1 arrobas”, said Gustavo Callejon, technical advisor at ACNB.

“Friboi is extremely pleased with the results achieved so far. The Naviraí stage entrenches our successful partnership with the ACNB and we continue working hard to make the 2019 edition of the event the biggest one yet”, said Fábio Dias, Director of Cattle Farmer Relations at Friboi.

After the overall assessment, 85.5% of participating males had up to two permanent incisor teeth, while 66.9% had medium or uniform finishing and an average weight of 20.1 arrobas. 77% of participating females had deciduous teeth, while 20.4% had up to two permanent incisor teeth, 94.88% had medium or uniform finishing and an average weight of 13.6 arrobas.

The award for best male carcass lot at the Naviraí stage went to Sandra Maria Massi. The Silver medal went to Adilton Boff Cardoso, while Marcelo Susumu Takahashi took Bronze. Braz Aristeu de Lima took Gold for best female carcass lot. The gold medal winners received 500 kilos of Matsuda mineral supplements which will be delivered to their farms by the company’s technical experts.

Naviraí held the 22nd stage of the 2019 Nellore Quality Circuit, which has now assessed over 18,000 animals.

Nelore Quality Circuit

The Nelore Quality Circuit, which is organized by the Brazilian Association of Nelore Breeders (ACNB), supports and promotes pure-bred meat and genetics to help increase productivity for Brazilian cattle farmers. The initiative gauges producers’ results based on their local environment and production system.

First held in 1999, this year’s circuit, which is sponsored by Friboi and Matsuda Sementes e Nutrição Animal, has grown to include 27 stages across 10 states. By the end of 2019, the Circuit will assess a record 20 thousand carcasses.
