São Paulo, July 11, 2019 – The Nelore Quality Circuit is visiting the state of Mato Grosso for the third time this year. The 9th stage of the initiative launched by the Brazilian Nelore Breeders’ Association (ACNB) will take place in the city of Araputanga, on July 16 and 17. The Friboi plant in the city will assess around 900 animals.
“Over 5 thousand animals have been assessed by the Nellore Quality Circuit during the first half of the year. By the end of the year, we expect to be setting a new record since the initiative first began in 1999”, said André Locateli, executive manager at ACNB. “We aim to continue improving the breed’s genetics, which Nelore representing 8 out of every 10 head of beef cattle in the country”.
The Araputanga stage will be organized alongside the Mato Grosso Nellore Breeders Association (ACNMT). Sponsored by Friboi and Matsuda Sementes e Nutrição Animal, the Circuit will award the best ranked lots of male and female cattle with 500 kilos of mineral supplements.
“Our goal is to create tools that help producers identify their main areras for improvement. The Nelore Circuit has been a part of this strategy and we have seen some excellent outcomes”, said Breno Molina, president of ACNMT.
Nelore Natural – Any cattle breeder can take part in the Nelore Quality Circuit, although ACNB members also have the opportunity to slaughter their animals under the Friboi Natural Nelore Protocol, which offers bonuses of up to R$ 10.50 per arroba based on carcass characteristics and farm eligibility.
Next stages – The only stage taking place in July is being held in Araputanga. The August stages are scheduled for Mozarlândia (GO), Barra das Garças (MT) and Colatina (ES). Overall, 26 stages of the Nelore Quality Circuit will take place across 10 Brazilian states.
