OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY: JBS CELEBRATES ACHIEVEMENTS AND REDOUBLES PRECAUTIONS

The Company celebrates success of business units commitment to occupational safety

One of any major Company’s biggest commitments is to ensure it provides its Team Members with safe working conditions. At JBS, occupational safety is an obsession. All Company businesses are encouraged to implement best occupational safety practices and provide ongoing guidance and supervision.

As a result, the Company has achieved positive results across all its operation. On September 20, the Seara Distribution Center in Santo Agostinho (PE) reached a milestone after two years without accidents.

This result is even more impressive as the Distribution Center has 85 direct Team Members and handles an average 57 thousand tons of goods every year. The center not only receives between 10 and 20 trailer trucks every day, it also loads between 35 and 50 smaller vehicles.

The date coincided with Workplace Accident Prevention Week (SIPAT) and the Center held a commemorative lunch for all Team Members.

Friboi is also committed to occupation safety. As a result, the Prepared Foods plant in Andradina (SP) recently celebrated 600 accident-free days. The plant celebrated this milestone with a special event to thank the team, which was attended by Adriano Silva, Industrial Officer of Operations and the entire factory management team. The event also included a special message from Renato Costa, president of Friboi.

Team Members from both shifts gathered at the plant’s restaurant to receive a special message acknowledging their role in improving safety. The event ended with a special meal for the whole team.

“At JBS, safety is a principle, not just a priority. This incredible excellent result was only possible because the entire team is committed to safety. We still have much work ahead of us in order to implement a robust safety culture throughout our facility, but achievements like this shows we are on the right path”, said Maurício Bastos, Industrial manager at the plant.

The Company is constantly providing staff with safety guidance to maintain this positive track record. As an illustration, Friboi recently organized an event for the Gauiçara (SP) Feedlot operations team to carry out activities from the “Great Training” program, which focuses on accident prevention, creating a safer workplace and legal compliance.

The team was trained on how to safely operate machinery and equipment in accordance with NR 12. Employees also received training on working in confined spaces, at heights, fire brigade techniques and vaccination.
