JBS Team Members engage in solidarity initiatives

Campaign “Good Deeds are Good” donates 100 tons of food to more than 90 entities

Every year, JBS holds the campaign “Fazer o Bem Faz Bem” (“Good Deeds are Good”), which has its Team Members engaged in collecting non-perishable foods for donation to charity entities in the cities where the Company is present. In 2019, 82 tons were collected, and JBS doubled the total sum collected by the five cities that led the initiative, increasing to more than 100 tons of foods donated to over 90 institutions from 75 cities.

In Dourados (Mato Grosso do Sul state), more than two tons collected by the Seara plant were donated to Lar Ebenezer and to Igreja Novo Olhar, which take care of people in vulnerable conditions. Both entities also had the support from the local community, which collaborated by taking foods to collecting points in the city.

Another Seara plant, in Jaguariúna, Sao Paulo’s countryside, collected about 1.5 tons of rice, beans, pasta and other items, to be donated to Lar Feliz, a project that houses children. To celebrate the engagement from everyone in the campaign, the plant offered a Christmas party for the children of its more than 500 Team Members. The facility was especially decorated for the occasion, and 60 kids were welcomed by Santa Claus and took part on a drawing contest.

JBS Novos Negócios was also engaged. The Team Members made the wishes written in letters to Santa Claus by children and elderly people from daycare centers and nursing homes in Lins and Guaiçara (Sao Paulo state) come true.

Another example of solidarity came from the Friboi distribution center in Rio de Janeiro. The Team Members sponsored 31 impoverished children, who have school tutoring at the daycare center Tia Dilma, in Belford Roxo, greater Rio Region.

The actions conducted by JBS reinforce the engagement from its Team Members with taking care of other people, especially the ones who need the most.
