JBS EXPORTS 3.6 MILLION LITERS OF BIODIESEL TO EUROPE

JBS Biodiesel is the first and only company in Brazil to have achieved ISCC (International Sustainability and Carbon Certification) status, which qualifies it to sell to Europe

In late April 2020, 3.6 million litres of biodiesel, exported from JBS’ Lins plant, in Sao Paulo state, arrived at the Port of Rotterdam in Europe. Currently, JBS is the only Brazilian company in the industry certified to export biodiesel to the European market.

“JBS is internationally recognised for its sustainable production methods and high quality biodiesel, which complies with the strictest standards. We are constantly assessing new market opportunities, and are proud to have a strong competitive position in the foreign market,” says Alexandre Pereira, director of JBS Biodiesel.

The JBS Biodiesel division is an industry pioneer in Brazil, achieving the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) status, which it has maintained since 2014.

Last year, JBS was also the first Brazilian biofuel company to receive carbon reduction credits certification (CBIOs), within the scope of the RenovaBio program. Currently, its two plants, in Lins (SP) and Campo Verde (MT), have capacity to place nearly 800,000 CBIOs per year in the market.

The cargo headed to the European Union departed from the JBS Biodiesel plant in the state of Sao Paulo, and the logistics operation was conducted by ECB Group Brazil, an investment holding focused on the agri- energy sector.
