Innovation: JBS launches OZO plant-based brand in China

The OZO portfolio was showcased to retail and foodservice customers during Sial China 2021, in Shanghai

In May, JBS participated in Sial China 2021, one of the largest trade shows designed for the retail and foodservice segments worldwide, held in Shanghai. This was the first time that the Company had showcased in the Asian nation the portfolio of the plant-based brand, OZO, consisting of innovative solutions and sources of protein fermented using mushrooms. The highlight were the hamburgers, with the emphasis on the consumption trends of the Chinese in this segment, and the expected clearance for sales to the country.

At the event, JBS amalgamated on a single stand several others of its global brands to highlight its multi-protein portfolio, as well as its most recent worldwide launches. Friboi, the top-selling Brazilian beef brand in China, introduced three of its key product ranges with high value-added solutions: Black Friboi, Grain Valley and 1953 Friboi. In the case of Seara, the bets were on its retail range composed of pork and chicken cuts and items of the prepared foods segment, such as hamburgers, sausages and breaded products.

This was the seventh participation of JBS at Sial China, considered one of the most important segment trade shows in the region.   The Company is present in the country through commercial offices, and the Greater China region is currently one of the main destinations for JBS products, accounting for more than 30% of the Company’s entire exports.
