JBS UNVEILS NEW SOURCING CHANNEL FOR CATTLE PURCHASES ON TV

Sao Paulo, August 23, 2018 – Conexão JBS has been broadcast as part of the Giro do Boi program on Canal Rural since the beginning of August. As part of JBS’s plan to build closer commercial relationships with farmers and help livestock breeders improve their businesses, JBS is initially offering windows of opportunity to buy cattle on future dates at units certified as part of the 1953 protocol, with potential bonuses of up to R$ 13 per head available.

“By offering these procurement windows as part of Conexão JBS, we are opening access up to all livestock producers, of any size, and offering them the opportunity to qualify for the improved 1953 protocol bonuses”, said Eduardo Pedroso, Executive Director of Cattle Sourcing at JBS. “Being aware of a unit’s procurement plans in advance means even small-scale producers based less than 300 km from the unit can manage their breeding programs to ensure they comply with the protocol, increasing their chances of receiving a bigger bonus”, he added.

As the idea has evolved, various windows for future procurement based on the 1953 protocol criteria have been filled after being offered through the program. The Vilhena (RO) unit purchased 300 head of cattle for October 17.  The Nova Andradina (MS) unit purchased 100 head of cattle in advance for slaughter on October 5. The Pontes e Lacerda (MT) unit bought 200 animals for October 16, while Lins (SP) purchased 200 head for slaughter on November 13.

“The windows were advertised on the Conexão JBS and the deals closed quickly. The advance notice benefits local farmers and offers those who breed livestock in line with the company’s forward contract criteria greater security”, said Pedroso. “We know that the success of the industry depends on the success of the producer and JBS is therefore focusing all of its efforts on increasing efficiency throughout the production chain”.

Conexão JBS also provides guidance on genetic cross-breeding to produce the crossbreeds accepted as part of the 1953 protocol in order to assist farmers who want to increase their earnings and productivity. This means small and medium producers can also plan high quality output with significant added value.

Giro do Boi program, which airs Conexão JBS, is broadcast by Canal Rural at 8 am every day. The program showcases products for livestock breeding, from inputs and pasture seeds to the windows of opportunity to buy cattle, such as those offered on Conexão JBS
