JBS SPONSORS GRUPO ETCO’S MANUAL FOR BEST HANDLING PRACTICES

Booklet was launched at Interconf 2018 and distributed to event participants;

The manual will be available at all company units

 

Sao Paulo, September 13, 2018 – The 11th edition of Interconf – the International Livestock Breeder Conference, which was held on September 11 and 12 in Goiânia, was the stage used to unveil the “Best Handling Practices – Feedlot” manual developed by the Animal Ecology and Etiology Study and Research Group (Grupo ETCO) at Unesp in Jaboticabal and sponsored by JBS.

 

The manual provides recommendations for best handling practices in an attempt to minimize the risk of failures adapting cattle to confinement and avoid situations that result in suffering. According to the manual’s authors, the manual’s recommendations are based on the results of practical experience and research at commercial feedlots in Brazil over the past 10 years, developing handling strategies that help cattle adapt to feedlot environments, improving environment conditions and bringing positive repercussions for animal health and performance, resulting in improved production efficiency and better living conditions for everyone involved: both humans and animals.

We have developed several initiatives to raise awareness and inform our suppliers and the manual is one of them.
