The Company invested R$ 20 million in a number of changes to increase output and maturing chamber capacity
Sao Paulo, May 02, 2018 – Last Monday (30), JBS inaugurated the new facilities at its units in Goiânia (GO), which carries out cattle slaughter and deboning operations. After a 90-day refurbishment, R$ 20 million was invested at the plant to modernize the deboning sector, which is now equipped with more modern equipment and has implemented more productive processes. Furthermore, the capacity of the maturing chamber, which can house carcasses for up to 48 hours prior to deboning, was increased by 30%.
The Company has made improvements in other unit sectors to comply with the stringent quality and safety standards adopted by various consumer markets and to improve flows, guaranteeing higher end product quality. The Goiânia unit will now be able to debone 800 head of cattle a day – an increase of around 35%. Additionally, capacity can now be increased to meet demand.
“Goiânia is one of our most important plants, because in addition to serving the domestic market, it also supplies over 60 countries. The unit is now equipped with cutting edge technology and processes. It is an example within the company and throughout the industry”, said Renato Costa, CEO of JBS Carnes.
The plant in Goiânia was acquired by JBS in 1996 and employs 1050 staff. At full operating capacity, which it should achieve in the second quarter of the year, the Company expects to open up 150 new positions.
