Sao Paulo, December 19, 2016 – Production of the JBS Embalagens Metálicas range of large foodstuff cans registered an annual 50% increase in 2016. Looking solely at volumes sold through JBS Carnes, the increase was 20%. This solid performance mirrors the growth of the steel packaging business in-house and for external customers.
JBS uses the large cans to export industrialized meat to the US and Europe. On the European market, the growth shows the changing profile of JBS customers who are using more modern types of packaging that offer ends customers greater flexibility with larger cans: the product can then be portioned and sold in smaller packs to better serve local demand. On the US market, growth is being drive by rising demand for “texmex” style food.
JBS Embalagens Metálicas is one of Brazil’s largest companies in this industry. With production units in Lins and Barretos, in the interior of Sao Paulo, this business unit supplies cans to package products requiring protection against physical, chemical and biological interference, including both food products and a range of aerosols for a wide range of sectors.
