The investment will increase the company’s US structure following its acquisition of five processing plants and two distribution centers.
São Paulo, March 13, 2017 – Today, JBS announced it had acquired Plumrose USA, which makes high added-value processed products and has a high profile on the US market with products including bacon, meats and sliced cold cuts, which it supplies to both retail and food service customers.
Plumrose has over 80 years’ experience manufacturing meat-based foods in the US and is widely respected for its quality, service and superior products. Plumrose has net annual revenues of approximately US$ 500 million; the acquisition was valued at US$ 230 million.
The acquisition is fully aligned with the strategy to consolidate JBS as a global food company, expanding its product portfolio and brand offerings as well as its customer and base and geographic distribution in the US. The investment will include the acquisition of five processing plants (Elkhart, Indiana; Booneville, Mississippi; Swanton, Vermont and two in Council Bluffs, Iowa) and two distribution centers (Tupelo, Mississippi and South Bend, Indiana).
The transaction has been approved by the Boards of Directors at both Danish Crown – Plumrose’s parent company – and JBS. The acquisition is subject to review and approval by regulators and the US Department of Justice.
